Accessibility
Accessibility is part of good design.
For us, “smart by design” also means that our website should be usable by as many people as possible, whether they use a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader or magnification software. We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, as our target standard.
What we do
- Clear page structure: A logical heading hierarchy and consistent placement of recurring page areas.
- Semantic HTML: Content is marked up so that assistive technologies can interpret it correctly.
- Keyboard accessibility: All functions should be usable without a mouse; a “Skip to content” link allows direct access to the main content.
- Visible focus states: The currently selected element is clearly visible when navigating by keyboard.
- Contrast: Text and controls are designed for sufficient colour contrast.
- Scalable text: Content remains readable and usable when zoomed up to 200%.
- Alternative text: Informative images have descriptive alt text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Clear forms: Unambiguous labels, clearly marked required fields and helpful error messages.
- Screen reader compatibility: We test key pages with common screen readers.
- Understandable navigation: Consistent menus in both languages and clearly named links.
- Reduced motion: Animations respect the “reduce motion” system setting.
Current status
Our website is continuously being developed. Despite our efforts, some areas may not yet be fully accessible.
Continuous improvement
Accessibility is not a one-off project for us. We review new content and features before publication and improve existing areas step by step.
Report an accessibility issue
Have you encountered a problem or been unable to use some content? Please let us know. If possible, tell us on which page the problem occurred and what you were trying to do. We will look into it and get back to you.
